David Fallows - Artist

As a producer of product within Britain's largest National Park, it is import to us that we adopt the most energy efficient and conservation considerate processes we can, within the limits of the needs of longevity and quality of the finished product.

With limited edition prints, it is crucially important that the product has a long fade-resistant life and accurate colour reproduction and uses materials which do not themselves break down over time in a short period. As such, it is not, for instance, possible to use recycled paper as a base for either the prints themselves, or the original works. Despite this, there are many things which we can, and do, do to ensure that our product is as sustainable and earth-friendly as possible.

Ink cartridges used in the process are recycled (although we do not use recycled cartridges ourselves as the quality of ink is not acceptable on our longevity measure); All paper and card that is for whatever reason discarded during the process is either re-used for other purposes, or recycled; Low energy requirement computers and standby energy saving measures are implemented so that electricity consumption is managed and minimised; Recycled paper is used for our other printing purposes apart from prints themselves; we do not produce printed catalogues and rely on the much more energy efficient internet to market our product to the public; all type 1 and type 2 plastics are recycled; finally, the packaging material we use for despatch is almost always recycled - hence, you may find that your parcel is not particularly pretty on arrival - but we hope you will understand that we'd rather contribute to saving the planet than to flashy marketing and presentation!
